“When my heart was hardened, and my courses constrained; I made my hope a stairway to Your forgiveness. My sins burdened me heavily, but when I measured it by Your forgiveness, Lord, Your forgiveness was the greater.”

“Whoever slanders to you about others, will slander about you. And whoever reports to you, will soon report about you.”

“Knowledge is that which benefits, not that which is memorized.”

“Let not your tongue mention the shame of another For you yourself are covered in shame and all men have tongues. If your eye falls upon the sins of your brother Shield them and say: “O my eye! All men have eyes!””

“I wish that people learnt this knowledge from me without ascribing one letter of it to me.”

“Whoever wishes that Allah will illuminate him, let him leave that which doesn’t concern him.”

“When the foolish one speaks, do not reply to him, for better than a response (to him) is silence, and if you speak to him you have aided him, and if you left him (with no reply) in extreme sadness he dies.”

“Support me with your advice in private, and avoid advising me in public. Surely giving advice among the people is a kind of reproach, which I would rather not listen to. If you disobey and ignore my wish, don’t be saddened if you are not obeyed.”

“To admonish your brother in private is to advise him and improve him. But to admonish him publicly is to disgrace and shame him.”

“Three things will increase your intellect: sitting with the scholars, sitting with righteous people, and leaving off speech that doesn’t concern you.”

“Intercession is only sought by one of a lower status before a superior and no one is superior to Allah.”

“All humans are dead except those who have knowledge. And all those who have knowledge are asleep, except those who do good deeds. And those who do good deeds are deceived, except those who are sincere. And those who are sincere are always in a state of worry.”

“Whoever recites Qur’an, his value is amplified. Whoever records hadith, his proof is strengthened. Whoever learns jurisprudence, his status is ennobled. Whoever learns Arabic, his disposition becomes gentle. Whoever learns mathematics, his opinion will be copious. And whoever fails to defend his honor will not benefit from his knowledge. ”

“I have never debated with a knowledgeable person, except that I won the debate, and I have never debated with an ignorant person, except that I lost.” “I never once argued with anyone hoping to win the debate; rather I always wished that the truth would come from his side.”

Jannah

Seeking Ilm is the way to go, knowledge is power, not just for show.
How is it that we know nothing about our final abode?
Where we will remain forever, never will it go. Indulge in anything that our heart desires… Execeptional..
Expect it all.
But really though?
Why is that we grew up being scared of it all?
No one never told us about the beauty of Jannah before.
Never even knew of Jannatul Firdaus.
So how are we expected to desire that which we do not know of?
Lemme tell you ’bout it all.
It’s a garden beneath which rivers flow.
Rivers of wine, honey and milk, just so, you know.
It’s a garden of bliss.
Tranquility that’s impossible to dismiss.
Completely contrary to that in the pits.
Of Jahannam, so let’s avoid this.
Now let’s talk about the width. The distance between two grades out of a hundred, is that of the distance between the heavens and the earth.
If we were to speak of the value of this reward, none of us would be worth-y, to enter a garden so great, granted from His mercy.
You get me? A goal so big that it’s worth this life journey.
A reward for each, male or female, treated equally.
But not in the same manner, for the men Allah created hooris.
Untouched, fair females created by the One and Only
Women made of sapphire to please thee. If she were to spit into the oceans, the waters would taste sweet.
Mouth like honey, when she speaks.
Voluptuous and child-free. Restraining their glances, big eyes, so  enchanting. Eggs well preserved.
Like nothing you’ve ever observed, so brothers you should be thanking.
Now time for the Muslim sister, you didn’t think Allah would forget ya? Did ya?
Your reward will be that too, unimaginable.
However our reward is inapplicable.
Allah does not tell us precisely.
It is said out of sheer modesty.
We are not told exactly.
But it’ll definitely be, something beyond satisfactory.
Palaces and palm trees. Drinking wine and parties.
Fruits which hang low, on trees they will grow, thereof you will eat, no hardships, just ease.
No more slander or pain, views of Allah’s face.
This is a place, called Jannah

Fiqh of Fasting

Standard

·Written by Ammar Al-Shukry·

-The Definition of Fasting
Oh You who believe, Siyam has been prescribed for you…
As it was prescribed for those who came before you…
That you may shield yourselves from Allah’s Wrath…
A high and lofty goal and fasting was made the path,…
An obligation, rather a mighty pillar of the faith…To abstain from everything that would cause the fast to break,…
With an intention for worship from the time of sun’s rise…
Until it sets on the horizon for its daily demise…
Fasting has two pillars in which consensus was acquired…
The first is abstaining from two physical desires…
Desire for food and drink, and those of a sexual type…
The second is that the intention must be done in the night…
True dawn to sunset is the normal time frame observed…
But in extreme places the nearest normal neighbor is preferred,…
And it is a most virtuous act of worship, if you only knew…
To release yourself from your desires, and become a better you…
The virtues of fasting are too many to be counted,…
And the reward from Allah is too great to be amounted,…
But in this short introduction let it suffice to say,…
That it increases your taqwa, which you’ve witnessed every day…
During the blessedness of the month, as well as a safeguard from evil…
A protection from the Shayateen, those of the Jinn and the people,…
It’s a deed done only for Allah and so He will be the one to reward it…
And it’s gate is Al-Rayyan, and only those who fasted will go towards it…The breath of those who fast, is more beloved than the scent of musk…
To Allah, and an Ummah bonded in worship daily from dawn till dusk,Gone is gluttony and greed,
replaced with compassion for those in need,
And a healthy rest given to bodies that all year we overfeed,

-The types of Fasts
The obligatory fasts are four,
of which Ramadan is at the core,
Fasting Ramadan, making up missed days from Ramadan, whats more?
Due to existing reasons, meaning a transgression that must be expiated,And fulfilling of an oath if such a promise was initiated,
The forbidden fasts are known and should not be performed
The first is the day of doubt, when one is still uninformed Of whether Ramadan has started, also the day of Eid, In Menstruation, post natal bleeding and indeed, A wife should not fast voluntarily without her husband’s permission And fasting,
if life threatening, is a religious transgression…
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic year,
From the word ramadha, meaning extreme, severe
A pillar of Islam, it expiates all of the minor sins…
acquired from one Ramadan, until the next begins
The gates of Mercy are opened, gates of hellfire are closed
Devils are chained, a month of goodness unopposed,
The generous feel courage, inspired to continue to give,
A night worth a thousand months, gifted so we can live!
For we are an Ummah whose life spans were made short
So we’re given seasons of goodness, as a means of support,
And the nights are enlivened, with recitation and prayer
Angels crowding the earth, peace and serenity in the air

-The Moon sighting
The sighting of the moon to mark the commencement of the fast…
is in 28th and 29th of Sha’baan if not sighted, then go past…
And complete Sha’baan with thirty days before embarkation…
Sighting is an act of worship, to be done with the eye, not calculation…
Two witnesses is required for the sighting is Maalik’s instruction…
AlShafi’ee and Ahmad said one, and Abu Hanifah’s deduction…
was that at times it would be one, if the sky was forecast…
but in clear skies at least two would be needed amassed…
The witnesses must be Muslim, trustworthy and of sound mind…
And sighting is a collective obligation to each community assigned…
If an individual sights the moon, and it is not accepted by the community…
Then he may still fast with the group, to avoid disunity…

-Prerequisites of fasting
Fasting has prerequisites, in Arabic called Shuroot…
Islam, puberty and a state of mind sound and acute…
Physical ability and a state of residence…
And free from legal conditions that are preventative

-The conditions of a valid fast
The first condition of the fast is having the intention…
Obligatory to have before the next sun’s ascension…
Meaning in the night, when you go to bed…
to have the intention of fasting the next day ahead…
The place of the intention resides solely in the heart…
But just one for the month, or divided into thirty parts?
Maalik and Ahmad said that the first suffices the rest of the way…
While Al-Shafi’ee said an intention is needed for every day…
The second condition is to abstain from food and drink…
One may break the fast out of necessity, if on the brink…
of unbearable hardship…
but this is far from normal fatigue…
And swallowing is the act that is considered ‘to feed’…
If you’ve forgotten that your fasting and start to eat…
Then Allah is the one who fed you, a blessed treat…
But as soon as you recall, then stop if you’re devout…
Don’t touch anything else, and spit out what’s in your mouth…
Medical Shots don’t break the fast except those for nutrition…
The fast isn’t broken by insulin, nasal drops, and a difference of opinion…
Exists regarding the recipients of blood if their fast is still correct…
But regardless they’d be too weak to fast is what you would expect…
The third condition is to refrain from sexual acts…
There is consensus that kissing doesn’t break the fast…
Though some said it was disliked…
because of passions it excites…
Yet even if it leads to preseminal discharge the fast is still alright…
Self pleasure breaks the fast, a position that was decreed…
By Abu Hanifah, Malik, AlShafi’ee and Ahmed who all agreed…
It is a major sin and violation in this month of blessings infinite…
And an action that transgresses beyond Allah’s limits…
The fourth condition is the time of the fast, from day to night…
Then eat until you can distinguish the black thread from the white…
If one unintentionally eats a little past the onset of day break…
Then they should continue the fast and consider it a mistake…
If they however break their fast too early before the setting of the sun…
Then the fast is considered broken and they must make another one…
One cannot break their fast before the onset of a legal exemption…
And if the excuse ends, then they should again begin their prevention.

Behind the veil (poem)

Behind the veil
There she is, eyes like none you can’t see
Too beautiful to be seen
She’s draped and elegant
Walks with feather steps
Untouchable she is
Woe unto thee!
Who tries to pull her cover
She has beauty like no other

Behind the veil
Crescent face, eyes that beam with noor
She’s not meant to be seen by a fool
All black everything she rocks with pride
She is your very mysterious bride
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder
But you have no right to touch her

Behind the veil
Oh what a lady, such a beauty
Eyes speak like a deity
Make way while she passes by
Her beauty might make you cry
She doesnt want attention
You might end up in detention
Glory be to God, for He is beautiful
And so He creates beautiful creatures!

“Allah commands the women to draw over themselves their jilbaab (cloaks) when going out and around their Non-Mahram (non relatives).”

Standing like a tree

From the earth
mother nature bore me

A simple seed
I knew no need

Rain befell me
Showers quenched me
Sunlight brightened every part of my being
I went slowly
I grew steadily
In the safe depths of warmth I bloomed

I knew no pain, nothing ailed me all I knew was the beautiful light of day Then I broke the surface
The world claimed me
Gone were the days of yesterday

In a sea of giants
I struggled In the depth of darkness! I drowned
Couldn’t wait to get here
Now I’m stranded

All alone standing like a tree
Harsh winds buffet me
I stand strong I’ve never been one to break

Hope surrounds me
Peace is within

I’m going to find my saving grace,

After struggle, there is fulfillment
After sadness, there is reprieve
After sorrow, there is solace

I’m going to sand tall and strong like a tree
By His showers, I shall grow stronger
By His mercy I’ll continue to breathe
By His grace I will strive harder

I’ll fight for what i believe When dealt a heavy hand, I shall take heart
When knocked to my knees I’ll pray
By His remembrance I’ll hold firmly the rope to my faith

From a seedling to a tree
From cradle to grave

Our one sustenance is the Holy

He brings forth from the night a blessed day
When sadness threatens to hold me He shimes on me from the light, a ray Through everything, through the blackest days, I’ll stand firmly

By His majesty’s grace I’ll stand tall and ever humble

I’ll stand like a patient tree…
