There’s a saying that goes, ‘Work Smart, Not Hard’.
Ramadan is a blessed month where Allah (swt) multiplies our good deeds. Finding ways to take advantage of this without necessarily adding to your workload is paramount to worshiping smart.
For example, if you’re cooking or baking something special for your family, wrap some of it up and give it to your neighbours. It doesn’t require any extra effort on your part, but considering the immense rewards of being kind to your neighbour, the rewards of this action can be enormous.
Or, if you’re going to donate some money to a certain cause or needy family, ask your friends if they’d like to donate with you. The Prophet (saw) said: “Whoever guides (another) to a good deed will get a reward similar to the one who performs it.” By encouraging others to take part in charity, you reap the benefits of not only your own donation, but the donations of everyone else who follows your lead.
When Supplicating, make Dua for every Muslim.
The prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever asks forgiveness for the believing men and women, he will have a good deed written to his credit for each and every believing man and woman.” [Majma` al-Zawâ’id(10/210) and graded as good by al-Albânî]
The possibilities of multiplying your rewards are endless.

*Learn a Du’aa*Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu
I hope you are all in best state of health and imaan.
Today, we would be learning a great du’a, that has enormous benefits. This du’a is probably known by most of us but we undermine its importance and probably only do it only once in a while, missing out on a great deal of reward and protection we will derive from it. The du’a I am referring to is
*La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharikalahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shay’in qadiiir*.
The reference of this du’a is a hadith narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said,
“Whoever says ‘Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in Qadeer (There is no god but Allaah Alone, with no partner or associate; His is the Dominion and His is the Praise, and He is Able to do all things), one hundred times in a day, it will be equivalent (in reward) to freeing ten slaves, and a hundred hasanaat (good deeds) will be recorded for him, and one hundred sayi’aat (bad deeds) will be erased from his record; it will be a protection for him from the Shaytaan all that day until evening comes, and nobody can do any better than that except one who does more than that.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 3050).
*freeing ten slaves, 100 hasanaat, 100 bad deeds erased and protection from the shaytaan* I have no doubt we all want these, I pray Allah gives us the ability to be consistent with our adhkar ameen.
In the name of Allah, The Most Beneficial, The Most Merciful.
THE BEST TEN DAYS OF THE YEAR
The month of dhul hijjah is fast approaching and with it comes a great blessing. Allah (swt) blessed us with 10 days in dhul hijjah that are superior to all other days of the year, even the days of ramadan.
Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ) said, “There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).” He was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?” He (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ) replied, “Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it.”[Al-Bukhari].
According to the Timing chapter of the Society for the propagation of islam, Nigeria, the 10 days will be from 25th sept- 4th october.
Like we do for everything that is special, let’s begin to prepare for these great days that are around the corner so as to invest as much as we can (in good deeds), and make them the best 10 days of our lives, so far.
Wealth & children are adornments of the worldly life, but the righteous good deeds that last (deeds of Allahs obedience, nice good talk, remembering Allah) are better with Your Lord in for rewards and better in respect of hope. (18:46)
May Allah (swt) grant us the ability to do as much righteous good deeds in those days as possible. Ameen.
Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 46:
Wealth and children are the adornment of the life of this world. But the good righteous deeds (five compulsory prayers, deeds of Allah’s obedience, good and nice talk, remembrance of Allah with glorification, praises and thanks, etc.), that last, are better with your Lord for rewards and better in respect of hope.
Indeed in this ayah is a deep reminder. We as humans expand so much energy as well as time in searching & gaining wealth & take so much pride in our children. But these things don’t last. We will have to leave our wealth someday or it will end before we leave. Likewise our children, we will be separated from them, today, tomorrow or someday.
It is only wise then to channel more of our energy & time into those things that will last; our good deeds. Our prayer, fasting, relationships with the creation, obedience of Allah, though they might seem like nothing big & sometimes hard. The prophet (saw) once said: to pray (just) the 2 raka’ats before fajr is better than the world and all that is within it. [Nawawi, sharh muslim]
“Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, so worship Him (Alone) and be constant and patient in His worship. Do you know of any who is similar to Him?” (19:65)
We implore Allah to gift us with more from His ‘Gems’ & make of those who live with the whole Qur’an, in heart & in mind, ameen.
