We were created only for worship but unfortunately, constantly we transgress. And none of of us is above the mistakes, the whispers of shaytan, the weakness in our hearts.
Every Ramadan we make plans for all numerous things we want, waiting for Iftar time, the 3rd of the night to ask for all our wants, forgetting that Ramadan is a yearly gift for us from our creator to Purify our selves.
When Aisha asked Rasulillah what she should do when she sees Laylatul Qadr, He taught her the dua – to seek Allah’s forgiveness.
The Messenger salla Allahu alayhi wasallam tells us in a hadith qudsi, that Allah ‘azza wa jall said:
“… O son of Adam, as long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I will forgive you for what you have done, and I will not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as (the earth)…”
In these last days of Ramadan, let’s surrender to our Rabb, seeking forgiveness for all our sins known and unknown to us. Do your best to sit down and try as much as you can to remember all your mistakes, weep for your weakness and transgressions and repent for them. Every night before you go to bed, also seek Allah’s forgiveness.
Truly Allah is Al-Ghaffar, Al-Ghafur, Al-Afuwu.
